October 1 & 2, 2005 Alpaca Farm Tour 2005

Farms across Minnesota opened their barns to visitors. If you missed it, make plans to come on October 7-8, 2006.

At Hollyhock Farm Alpacas, we had spinners demonstrating hand spinning of alpaca fiber, face painting for the kids, the Hollyhock Alpaca Shoppe was open and the alpacas were making friends with all the visitors. It was a busy and wonderful weekend. We met lots of new alpaca enthusiasts. More pictures....

July 19, 2005 Kid's Day with the Alpacas

Eight children and four Moms came to spend a day with the alpacas. After a short class about alpacas, we went to the barn to meet the alpacas. We had a supply of pea pods on hand for feeding. The pea pods are from our garden - we eat the peas, the 'pacas get the pods. Pea pods are a favorite of the alpacas. Then the kids tried their hand at felting around a film canister to create a cat toy to take home. We had a picnic lunch and then went back to visit the alpacas again. The older kids walked an alpaca through a simple obstacle course. Too soon, the day was over and everyone had to say good-bye. More pictures....
